Kevin Casseday

Shortly after his birth at St. Mary’s hospital, in Walla Walla, Kevin Casseday returned to live with the rest of the Casseday family in nearby Dayton. His early musical influences were his parents, in addition to Norma Evers and Mary Ellen Juris, organists at the First Congregational church in Dayton. Some years later, Jose Rambaldi auditioned the young bassist, and invited him to perform in the 69th season of the Walla Walla Symphony.

His subsequent musical travels have taken him from the Sun Valley Music Festival to his present positions in Florida with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and the University of Florida. As a chamber musician, he has performed with the St. Mark’s Bach ensemble, the Amelia Island Chamber Festival, Florida Bass Bash, and with faculty of the University of Florida and Brevard Music Center in North Carolina.

As a composer, he has published various chamber music for strings, as well as a rather large book of technical work for advancing bassists. Kevin is married to cellist Laurie Casseday, and is helping her raise two aspiring bassists, Sam and Pete.
